2010 Rural Youth Symposium

The 2008 "Owning Our Future" rural youth forum at the Brisbane Ekka was a huge success with more than 60 participants traveling from across Australia to share their ideas and strategies to develop opportunities for youth in rural and regional communities.

One of the outcomes of the forum was a loud call for another forum which brought together like minded passionate rural youth.  Plans are under way now to organise a Rural Youth Symposium in 2010.  A summary of discussions resulting from the forum can be downloaded here shortly.  

2009 Local Intelligence Show Tour

Expressions of interest are now being sought from shows and events wishing to be involved in the 2009 Local Intelligence Show Tour.

Armed with a variety of cameras and filming equipment Lara Wilde will be conducting a tour of all of the shows and iconic Queensland events over the next few years.  Lara will visit each event for one week filming the set up process; interviews with the committee, vendors, spectators and competitors; entertainment; and various interesting facets.  The footage will then be edited to provide the event with a professional dvd which can be used to promote the event; recruit new committee members; train committee members; record the history of the show and learn from other shows as successful strategies are showcased.

The drive to catalogue Australian communities has begun.
