Autumn has arrived
03-May-2010The last days of April were lovely, shorts and singlet weather. I ran my dogs and did some gardening. On Sunday afternoon as I sat on the Village Green in Highfields enjoying my Al Fresco lunch a chilly breeze passed by and I felt the first cold fingers of winter. This morning as I sit writing this newsletter, I am rugged up in sweaters and scarves and I am more than a little thrilled by the prospect of cold nights with mulled wine by a fire.
Autumn is a beautiful thing in the Bush. Crisp frosts crackle under foot, hearty meals of mashed potato and lamb shanks with thick gravy warm the belly while the landscapes transform.
This May I will be out and about experiencing all that Autumn has to offer including:
- Hampton Food Festival (www.hamptonfestival.com/);
- The Brass Monkey Festival at Stanthorpe (www.granitebeltwinecountry.com.au/pages/brass-monkey-winter/);
- The Australian Bronco Branding at Birdsville (www.diamantina.qld.gov.au/content/view/345/484/);
- Mackay Sugar Festival (www.mackaycanegrowers.com.au/index.phpoption=com_content&view=article&id=5&Itemid=6);
- Babinda Harvest Festival (www.qldevents.com.au/events/details.php?eventId=759&r=12&et=0); and
- The birthday of my wonderful mother.
Please come and say G'day if you see me out and about.
