Barcaldine Goat Racers
17-May-2010 The Barcaldine State School has less than 300 students but it has a very successful goat racing team. More than 20 students ranging from grade 4 to grade 12 compete in goat races throughout the region.Check out video of the students racing this year at the Barcaldine Goat Races at http://www.abc.net.au/local/videos/2010/05/05/2891455.htm and take special note of the children's dress code.
Currently the students wear a range of personal clothes and odds and ends. The Barcaldine State School though would like to support the young jockeys by arranging a uniform of jockey silks in the school colours - bottle green and white.
The Grey Nomads have agreed to sew the outfits for the students but there is still a question of material. Without any funds the school needs to access enough bottle green and white satin fabric to make 20 outfits. Sponsorship offers to date have included a goat and other odds and ends but there is still no offer of fabric.
If you are able to donate fabric or funds to purchase fabric to the school please contact the principal Robin Rayner at
