Biloela
17-May-2010 Last weekend I took a trip down memory lane in Biloela, Central Queensland. I attended grades 6 to 9 in Biloela and many of my childhood memories are based in Biloela. The water hazzard on the cross country course, which seemed impossible as a small child on a cantankerous pony, now seems to be little more than a hollow in a paddock. The little main street which boasted a KFC now hosts a huge shopping centre with an array of stores. There are traffic lights now and it took me 7 laps of town to escape the CBD as the streets have changed.
Biloela is thriving. The natural resources industry is booming supporting the Callide Power stations and coal exports through the Gladstone harbour. Agriculture is as strong as ever not only supporting cattle but also broadacre cropping and horticulture. Real estate prices are still very competitive with fully renovated Queenslanders in the main street selling for about the two hundred thousand dollar mark.
I had a great childhood in Biloela and I strongly recommend it to any family looking for a life they love.
