30-Jun-2010A new era in drought support will go ahead with the passing of drought support legislation by the House of Representatives and the Senate. The drought reform will be trialled in a WA pilot, announced by Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Tony Burke in May this year, which will create a drought support system that moves from crisis management to risk management. A total of $17.9 million has been allocated by the Federal Government and $5 million by the Western Australian Government to fund the WA drought reform pilot.
